Is my Ryzen 5 3600 worst than my i5-950?

What the hell is happening. I recently bought a Ryzen 5 3600 to replace my 8 year old i5-650. In both systems i used a low end card, the amd r7 240 2GB. I thought i was going to get better performance when i bought the cpu, but today, i downloaded rainbow six siege and found that at the same configuration is running with less fps. The thing is absurd i had at the minumum configuration like 70 fps now i get less than 60 and when i look other players i get like 45... Is the temperature? the chipset is runing at 63° and the cpu gets up to 73°... but still, what is happening.

The temperature shouldn't be an issue. How much RAM do you have in your system?

So you have one stick of memory? I am not sure if that is the case but dual channel memory is generally preferred afaik. Also the r7 240 is not good for today's games.

whats ur motherboard, zen 2 needs 2 sticks at 3200, on top of that i'm guessing the vrm is having trouble with the boost clocks.

You definitely need to be running dual channel memory, preferably 3200 MHz or higher. Furthermore your graphics card is completely unsuitable for today's demanding games, it's going to need to be replaced if you seek to gain any benefit at all from the platform upgrade. If running 1080P an AMD RX 5700 or RTX 2060 Super would be good places to start.

Did you reinstall windows? you went from a install on first gen core i series to ryzen 5 3600 there could be malfunction involved but other than that you also have to upgrade your video card, both are important.

State clearly, which has 1 stick and which has 4 sticks. The 1st gen i7/i5 Core has triple memory layout IIRC.....so, I dunno what to make of your answer. For Ryzen, do get at least 2x 8GB DDR4 3200 Cl16 at the very least......DDR4 3600 Cl16 would be better.

Agreed, the R7 240 is just not enough. Whatever possessed OP to upgrade your CPU/Mobo/RAM and stick with the R7 240? That card is a serious bottleneck, little wonder you don't see a difference. I would suggest a mid tier card, like the VEGA56 Plutosaurus had recommended, but if that's too much, an RX580 (cheapest is about 160USD) which comes with one free game and should enable you to game at 1080P at High setting at the very least. Another thing to take care of is, update your BIOS, read up on how to do this (should be easy enough with an X570 mobo) with your mobo as the latest BIOS (AGESA 1.0.0.4) helps with boost clocks, stability and temps (IIRC).

The Game may have seen different hardware and redid autoconfig of settings as they sometimes do.

Make sure 100% the detail levels are the exact same and if you didn't know them before it could very well have changed anyway on its own now seeing different config on startup.

Maximums - Asus Z97-K /w i5 4690 Bclk @106.9Mhz * x39 = 4.17Ghz, 8GB of 2600Mhz DDR3,.. Gigabyte GTX970 G1-Gaming @ 1550Mhz
