Fx 4300 vs Fx 8150

I have the ability to replace my daughters amd fx 4300 cpu with my old fx 8150 after upgrading to ryzen, all she really does is play kids games like roblox and minecraft ect. And she sometimes watches Netflix.

Is it worth swapping out the cpu?

Minecraft should* benefit from FX8150, also unless you got another use for FX8150, its better than letting it sit imo.

*Not entirely sure if Java version does without some tricks.

I don't see why not.

Make sure her PSU and motherboars are up for it because the 8 series is quite the power house. Not in terms of power though, lol.

It'll be an upgrade though.

I'm not a gamer but I understand that minecraft only utilizes two cores. The other two cores of your 8150 may help with system overhead. The FX series aren't quite what they were marketed as the CPU modules share resources the FX-8150 performs more like a quad core with hyperthreading. I know, I'm ditching my 6300 as soon as the Ryzen 3600 hits a Black Friday special.

I would still give it to her, it won't hurt, so long as her PSU can spare the extra 30 watts. She will lose a bit in single core performance since the 4300 is a 3800 MHz unit and the 8150 is 3600 MHz
