Posted November 17 · Original PosterOP I'm thinking about buying a VR headset for Christmas, I know that my computer can handle any headset but I'm not sure which one to choose. I'm strongly opposed against the Rift S because of the inside-out tracking and the headband audio so I'm thinking about getting a used Vive since you can't buy them new anymore. I'd like to stay below/around $500, and I'd like a PC headset rather than standalone. If there are any other good options, please let me know!
Posted November 18 If you do not want camera based tracking your only options are Vive, Vive Pro, Index, and Pimax. Of those, the only kit you are going to get for anywhere around $500 with all required components is the original Vive. You will still need headphones or earbuds unless you buy the deluxe audio strap as the Vive doesn't come with it be default. Depending on what games you are looking to play the Rift S tracking might be good enough as it's a lot better than Windows headset tracking but not as good as Lighthouse or Rift CV1 tackers.
