And what is regular 4k TV? What is not regular 4K TV? ?

Non HDR, No High Refresh rate, no rated color specs, etc.

Some people RGB simply because they're convinced it will make their system cooler... without any regard for the actual useage situation.

Take that black friday build video Linus and Anthony did the other day... I started watching but eventually turned it of when it got so stupid that I could no longer be bothered... Linus was more focussed on buying products with RGB in them as if it was the better part... without any consideration for what he was actually building... A VR HTPC system... a system that needs to be both quiet and as invisible as possible... a system that you can't see when using a VR headset and a system that should never become a distraction to what you are trying to watch on the screen.

Once he started talking like that... It was simply stupid... and it put me off watching for another second.

RGB has it's uses, for those that think it makes their system pretty... those who think of their PC as a fashion accessory rather than a simple functional tool... People who want to display their system. But it has no function outside of that... doesn't improve your abilities, doesn't make it faster and it's only cooler to people who have also bought into the fallacy that RGB is some how cooler and makes you better for having it.

So once Linus started down that path... it became moronic... if he'd simply made the case that the item he chose was based on price/performance alone and that the RGB would be turned off because it's a distraction for that use case I'd have respected it... but as it stood... I sat there thinking what a f*cking stupid video and watched something else instead.

i kinda get the purpose, i mean if the cable is routed in a proper manner where it's flexed & routed in a cool symmetrical way stuck to the wall, then the RGB cable will look nice compared to those ordinary regular black cable that just lays or hangs out looking ugly in a disorganized manner. But for regular PC connection this kinda odd if it;'s just laying out on the table with multiple weird twists, first off it would probably be a huge  distraction & secondly it would look like a weird glowy tail coming out of the monitor.

Details separate people.

What if the cable was white with red colour... then it would look like a giant used tampon string.   :)

I get your point, and there's merit there.

But what you propose is a bandaid solution. The fact that this looks better than a black cable is besides the point. If you care about aesthetics in that manner (which is totally legit), you should just hide the cables.

That's why Cable runners exist.

When I mounted my 5.1 surround speakers in my new apartment, I ran Legrande Cablemate II runners up the walls and across the ceiling to hide the cables for the rear speakers.

And proper cable management should reduce visibility from the end user of most of the cables actually at the TV.

So, if a user cannot or won't do it the proper way, sure - this can work.

It's still exceedingly expensive though.

I wonder how thin a conductor would be required for leds to be encapsulated into the insulation.
