Is the vega 56 worth it for gaming and some editing

sw1ftnesss

So the place where i live in, gpu prices are really wild.

rtx 2060= 500$

5700=480$

rx 570 8 gb= 170$

vega 56= 330$

i dont have the option to import the cards, what should i go with?

If those are the prices, the Vega 56 is the best of the bunch for sure.

PC Specs - AMD Ryzen 7 5800X3D MSI B550M Mortar - 32GB Corsair Vengeance RGB DDR4-3600 @ CL16 - ASRock RX7800XT 660p 1TBGB & Crucial P5 1TB Fractal Define Mini C CM V750v2 - Windows 11 Pro

It's a bit faster than a GTX1070/GTX1660, and a bit slower than the RTX 2060.

My memory is that it is sometimes possible to get additional performance from vega56 by flashing the vega64 bios onto it.  Rx5700 can gain advantages from the rx5700xt bios too. Doesn’t work with all cards, and you wind up with something less than a real step up in the card.  With the rx5700 it’s mostly just additional overclock headroom.

the Vega cards run quite hot to begin with, and a Vega64 flash onto a vega56 can produce even more heat.  They may be talking about ways to manage that.  I don’t know if the speeds talked about earlier assume doing those things or not.

Not a pro, not even very good.  I’m just old and have time currently.  Assuming I know a lot about computers can be a mistake.

Life is like a bowl of chocolates: there are all these little crinkly paper cups everywhere.

I would just go for the RX 5700, as it's a bit faster, and will run cooler/quieter assuming it's not a blower model.

It's basically as fast as a 2060 super/2070 with an OC or bios flash if you have a dual bios card.

I edit my posts a lot, Twitter is @LordStreetguru just don't ask PC questions there mostly...

Spoiler

What is your budget/country for your new PC?

what monitor resolution/refresh rate?

What games or other software do you need to run?

Personally I just bought the reference non XT because I sold my 2060 to a friend and they had a rebate on the 5700 blower that made it 300 bucks US and I have an ITX build so the blower won't be bad at all.
