Best monitor for 15" MacBook Pro

ConiferousJelly

Hi everyone...

So I am currently in the market for a new monitor to pair with my 2018 15" macbook pro. I am looking for reccomendations and am stuck between two types of options.

First and foremost, I'm looking for a monitor that's greater than 1080p. I have a 1080p monitor, and when I hooked it up to my Macbook pro, it was blurry and pixelated (probably because I'm used to the 3kish display on the actual macbook)

So that leaves me with two other options that I've been exploring.

  • An Ultrawide 1440p monitor.
    • The only issue and concern I have with this is that it will still not be as crisp/sharp as a 4k monitor.
  • A not-ultrawide 4k monitor.
    • This would give me the crispness I'd like, and I don't NEED an ultrawide monitor.

Do any of you have some insight or reccomendations? My price-point is around 400 bucks (can do a little higher if its worth it) and I'd like something 27" or bigger. One other thing, I'd really like Thunderbolt 3 compatability so I'd only have to use one cord for everything. I'm just a little lost with the whole process, so if anyone has insight on 1440p vs 4k sharpness I'd really appreciate it.

Thank you :)

I use a pair of these with my Macbook Pro at the office and they are fantastic! I highly recommend them.

Can I ask which dock you use? That monitor looks really sweet, but would need a dock to achieve what I'm looking for.
