Nguyễn Công PC, a local system intergrater have posted pictures of the Asus Zenith II extreme TRX40 motherboard. I knows the guy in real life so, maybe I can get close and get even more details!? Attached pictures in case the post got taken down. 

From the box it seems that the board is still quad channel memory, but support PCIE 4.0. Dual 8 pin CPU power connector and an additional 6 pin for the CPU hints at the potential power draw of Thread ripper. Also a MOLEX connector to supply additional power to the PCIE slots at the bottom.

oh ffs Asus, it's 2019, use PCIe 6pin plug or EPS power plug, anything but 4pin MOLEX! That's just customer molestation, forcing them to dedicate a cable for this. Also Molex only carries 1 12v wire, so it isn't much help if you want to run 4 way RX 590 CF of some sort.

4x multi GPU support is pretty much non existent these days.

 

That said I still agree, molex should not be a thing in 2019.

is there any good replacements for it though?, pcie 6/8 pin there would probably be too tall

Could do a sideways mount if height is an issue.

6pin preferebly, Sata if you need a flat connector. But not Molex, anything but Molex.

Glad so far no one puts a name "Gaming" on these TRX40 motherboards.

 

Look at those mobo. I want one, but I don't have the money.

My X99 Classy and X99 Micro2 use 6 pins, and those are from a good while ago. Molex on a board this new is just one large OOF.

Asus just likes molex for some reason, maybe they have massive stock pile of these headers around

My attitude remains that the biggest issue is “does it have a non replaceable custom fan on the mobo?”  I like to have systems capable of outliving custom stock fans.
