Do you prefer light theme or dark theme?

Since it's preference there really isn't a best. I like dark theme, however, with Gmail dark theme on Android 10 some emails don't look great since forced dark theme makes the other colors a bit odd looking. Small annoyance though. 

 

Dark mode also theoretically has better battery life when paired to OLED screen, but haven't seen real good data supporting that.

There is no 'best', it's personal preference. It ultimately depends on the time of day, my environment, and how my eyes are feeling, for me.

 

I typically prefer light theme due to how lit my environment around me is with how much white objects I have, so naturally having a light theme blends it all together.

I also find reading white text easier on the eyes for me, as reading anything on a dark background tends to hurt my eyes after a while.

 

On the flip side, I do prefer dark theme for any sort of media such as images and videos where I need to focus on that particular media over anything else, and a dark theme helps in that regard. A good example of this is YouTube where I want to watch the video and not get blinded by the surrounding light, so dark theme it is.

I use the default theme it comes with because that is the one they focus on the most, to make sure it works properly and looks nice. The opposite of their default theme is mostly just an add-on, and switching to them, made the app felt foreign and odd, as if I've it was something new, even though I've been using it all the time.

Beside the default, I also use "RGB".

If it's bright, light theme. If it's dark, dark theme. If it doesn't match my eyes will hurt.

Would be nice if sites switched according to the system clock of the visitor.. or at least had that as an option.

 

For sites that don't have dark themes or I'm too lazy to figure it out, there's a tool (Linux) that smartly puts everything on your screen in dark mode: xcalib

 

xcalib -invert -alter

..and the lights go out.
