New TV For Mom

bellabichon

Hey forum,

I've finally decided that it's time to upgrade my mom's TV. She currently has a 31" Panasonic with 3" bezels from a while back, so basically anything would be an upgrade. Doesn't need to be 4K, or larger than 50", all it needs to do is play stuff from her Apple TV and hook up with the Nintendo switch dock. Budget is around $500 (CAD), but I would also like to get her a sound bar for movie watching, so the lower the better.

Thanks!

Main PC:

AMD Ryzen 7 5800X • Noctua NH-D15 • MSI MAG B550 Tomahawk • 2x8GB G.skill Trident Z Neo 3600MHz CL16 • MSI VENTUS 3X GeForce RTX 3070 OC • Samsung 970 Evo 1TB • Samsung 860 Evo 1TB • Cosair iCUE 465X RGB • Corsair RMx 750W (White)

Peripherals/Other:

ASUS VG27AQ • G PRO K/DA • G502 Hero K/DA • G733 K/DA • G840 K/DA • Oculus Quest 2 • Nintendo Switch (Rev. 2)

Laptop (Dell XPS 13):

Intel Core i7-1195G7 • Intel Iris Xe Graphics • 16GB LPDDR4x 4267MHz • 512GB M.2 PCIe NVMe SSD • 13.4" OLED 3.5K InfinityEdge Display (3456x2160, 400nit, touch).

Got any questions about my system or peripherals? Feel free to tag me (@bellabichon) and I'll be happy to give you my two cents.

Doesn't sound like it has to be any special TV, just head to your local Walmart/electronics store and pick up whatever is on sale. Wait until black Friday and save a few dollars.

How about the TCL 50S425?  It's 50", 4K, cheap ($399.99 CDN), and has all the connections needed in addition to Roku functionality.  It doesn't get the highest marks for picture quality, but it is at least decent for most users needing a budget TV.

That TCL looks pretty good. I might even get the 43" model and save some money. Thanks for the help!
