@wANKER I do not, I think its one of those - you will like this until you don't cases.  Ive heard thermal horror stories with the Mac Pro cases like this so not sure why we would want to emulate it, unless that has been addressed or you don't care about thermals and sound.

the reason apple went with the current style was because so many people were asking for this "cheese grater" style chassis to hearken back to the old mac days, and I have to say it's quite stylish.

I love the case design, perhaps might even stood the test of time, not like your typical windows pc cases. At least to my eye.

$200 for this case. Actually not bad from what I've seen, but too rich for my blood.

 

Dune has been doing knockoff Apple stuff since the 2nd gen Mac Pro, shame they missed the one that would make them the most money, the OG Mac Pro. If this one catches on I may buy one later though.

No 5.25", can´t have a case without. Also i don´t like the front, both of them. The IO is in a place that would force me to redo my whole desk setup, So a big no go for me.

 

But  i like how you can take it apart to get everywhere without any struggle and how sturdy it is. Every other case manufacturer please take notes.

I had no idea Rome boards had Mac OS support from Supermicro.

 

I think the real sweet spot here would be a dual boot Windows/Mac Rome system in that case. You should cut the apple logo out on the side panel and put some RGB in there to finish the look

Ok rip off Apple's weird grille, but at least make it fit large air coolers, filters, and rads so the peasant class can actually use it. I'd rather have a meshify clone, which i do actually have. A clone that has a glass window, full mesh & air filter on the front, and can fit a full sized cooler. This way we can do a Mac pro clone that will outperform Crapple's crap.

I think nothing less than excessive exists on the LTT channel. When LTT does a case review, I expect them to put a super hot CPU and GPU into it.

Don't put your money on any Indiegogo or Kickstarter project/campaign.

 

Linus did a video about a Zero Fan PC case back in 2016 (link), made by the company Calyos.

Calyos did a crowdfunding campaign in March 2017. They were supposed to deliver it in September 2017.

To this day, we are still waiting for that case; link to a topic from this forum.

Your fan is cycling because it's lower operational speed is below Lower Critical threshold, not because the temps are low. The bmc thinks that a fan has died, ramps up power to it just in case, fan crosses the threshold, temps are low so dial down the fan and go to step one. You can confirm this by opening Event Log tab in IPMI web interface:

 

Obscuring the fan speed from your motherboard is one of the dumbest solutions. Especially on a server board that will be stuck at least as remote as under the table. You are robbing yourself of monitoring that you paid for. Second thing to consider is that you introduce another failure point with that fan hub. It is chained with the fan and probability that the chain dies is rather more that the sum of probabilities that fan and hub die.

 

Back to the original problem.

 

Solution 1: Replace the fan with a fan that doesn't go so low on rpm

 

Solution 2: Set the thresholds according to your fan. My particular version of ipmi doesn't provide a web interface to do this so:

ipmiutil sensor -N <ip_address> -U <user_name> -P <password> -n <S_num> -u <thresholds>

 

<thresholds> are provided as noncrit_lo:crit_lo:nonrec_lo:noncrit_hi:crit_hi:nonrec_hi for a fan with 300-1300 rpm range i would use 250:150:50:1300:1400:1500

The front grille is FIRE! However, I don't dig the shower handles on top and the matching feet. But they're unquestionably practical. And that's a good thing in "pro" case. 

 

The case would look 10x better without the shower handles. Just sayin'

I was thinking the same thing.  I didn't think the Mac Pro case looked good enough to warrant a 'rip off'

It’s probably also a case of form over actual function, pun intended. I don’t find the case to be offensive but it’s nothing revolutionary either. This targets Apple fans but no company actually considering the Mac Pro will turn to this case as a cheaper alternative purely for esthetics.

I know it's not EXACTLY the old Mac Pro case, but the standard front plate kinda looks like it, or at worst a hybrid of the two.
