Is there any special motherboard header for USB c ?

USB C 3.2 gen 10 (so 10 gigabites)

You can call that USB 3.1, USB 3.1 Gen 2, USB 3.2 Gen 2, just never gen 10. Yes, USB 10Gbps work with that header.

Also Type-C is just the name of the connector, it is signal and software wise fully compatible with Type-A (the oldest type everyone knows), Type-B, micro and mini derivatives. That's why cables with two different connectors on each end work for USB, but not for say, VGA and DP.

Future proofing because it's Type C and not Type A is misinformed, the motherboard header itself is just USB 3.1 front panel header period, the final physical connector on the case depends on the case, not the board.

the Prime Pro is just the TUF with Intel LAN instead of Realtek and a few USB port support. I hope it only costs $20 more since they are otherwise largely the same.

Hi everyone,

I just bought an Asus Prime Pro X570 and it has "1 x USB 3.2 Gen 2 front panel connector port(s)"

Can I connect it to a USB C 3.2 gen 10 (so 10 gigabites) on the case or should the motherboard has a specific Header "USB-C 3.2 Gen 2" ?

I really want something super future proof.

Not sure what you are asking.

The board has-

3rd and 2nd Gen AMD Ryzen™/2nd and 1st Gen AMD Ryzen™ with Radeon™ Vega Graphics Processors :
4 x USB 3.2 Gen 1 port(s) (4 at back panel, blue, Type-A)
AMD X570 chipset :
1 x USB 3.2 Gen 2 front panel connector port(s)
AMD X570 chipset :
4 x USB 3.2 Gen 2 port(s) (4 at back panel, teal blue, 3 x Type-A+1 x Type-C)
AMD X570 chipset :
2 x USB 3.2 Gen 1 port(s) (2 at mid-board)
AMD X570 chipset :
4 x USB 2.0 port(s) (4 at mid-board)

So you have all of the current 3.2gen2 ports on either the back IO or front panel.

In the overview page, scroll down a bit to the picture with the board upright and tags, you'll see USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type C front panel header mentioned. It really gets me when people rename stuff for some reason and makes things more confusing. Bad paraphrasing maybe?

I know what you're asking about. OP's asking whether the board has a front panel connector he wants for his case.

Hi,

Thanks guys for the answers, the gen 10 was a typo. Some manufacturer website are so misleading that's why I was confused about the connector and the speed... So great I can have 10Gbps front and back !

And for the tuf I just prefer the look of the prime pro ;).

Hi,

Finally still wondering : usb-c is also used to deliver a lot of energy to turbocharged a smartphone. Does any motherboard make it possible ?
