90/120Hz display on phones useful for gaming?

N05HIT

When I saw the 120Hz display on the Asus Rog phone 2, a question was on my mind: how many games can run at 90/120Hz and does help you game better?

For gaming like racing games or games with lots of movement will not benefit that much but will be very smooth and Im sure a user who is not 90hz and plays a racing sim then goes to 90hz I am sure he can tell the difference.  I wouldn't bother if Im worried about refresh rate its not my phones lol.... Its the freakin monitor in front of me lol.

Be mindful of...

Forced Vsync and zero control over it.

60fps and 30fps capped games are plentiful and you won't get benefits..

Benchmarks might look good uncapped but many games come with FPS caps...

I'd be waiting for highHZ to be more mainstream, and thankfully its clear its going that way sooner than later..

Maximums - Asus Z97-K /w i5 4690 Bclk @106.9Mhz * x39 = 4.17Ghz, 8GB of 2600Mhz DDR3,.. Gigabyte GTX970 G1-Gaming @ 1550Mhz

Newest version of Asphalt and Honkai Impact 3 support high refresh mode with ROG Phone, but since I leave intense gaming to my laptop/desktop it doesn't help me. There arent enough games that support it either.

Even the iPad Pro 3 which is the fastest commercial arm mobile device still doesn’t run fortnite or PUBG at 120fps.

Kogan 144hz monitor (Overclocked to 165) Ryzen 3 3100, RX 580 Gigabyte Windforce (1450 mhz) 2 x 8GB CL15 DDR4 3133 (Overclocked from 2400) Phanteks P300 white (RGB set to purple), Zarrius Deskpad (I have the yellow one), Razer Deathadder Essential, CK62 wireless (don’t use it wireless)

Samsung ONLY Devices

I Found a free FPS/CPU/GPU overlay that works.

Game booster plus (called Game Plugins on Galaxy Store)

No Root Required.

In Action (PUBG)

Generally anything 90 hrz and above is enough to gain a substantial advantage considering most phone dont have that also more hrz and definition equals less battery life
