Is the Audigy RX worth it?

I've got a Beyerdynamic DT 770 Pro for a couple of years now, but haven't had a good DAC/Amp to drive it, have just been using my onboard ALC892 on my quite old motherboard. The sound is not bad, but it's clearly not making full use of my cans, this is a really good headphone AFAIK, and the sound is just normal, sometimes even losing to my JBL T110 on my phone, so there's clearly room to improve. But I can't afford the always-suggested Schiit combo, that's way too expensive for me, I want something in the same range, under US$90. Is there a better solution? And is this worth it? Also, would it work on a PCI x1? My x1 slot is not PCI-e.

Those are more expensive, not to mention it's just an Amp, the amp & dac combo is WAY more expensive. Keep in mind I live in Brazil, so it's much harder and more expensive to have access to this kind of hardware.

I say this with experience as I’m sitting at my desk with an EVGA nu audio and creative ae-9 right alongside an audigy 2 zs platinum and turtle beach Santa Cruz. There is next to no discernible difference in audio quality between any of them. Modern sound cards for the masses are for the flex.

 

Either buy an enthusiast tier card like an old Onkyo or just get a cheap external dac, it’ll make things sound slightly better just the same.

 

 

Well, that's a bummer, I'm really not hyped about my audio quality atm, I feel like it could be considerably better considering it's a studio headphone and all and my onboard sound wouldn't be doing it justice. An enthusiast tier card is way out of my budget, so there's no good cheap solution? I wanted a DAC and Amp combo, it could use more punch, specially in the bass, my old HyperX Cloud II hit much harder (I know it's focused for bass, but still), and the DAC for more clarity, I dunno, I don't know what it could sound like since I've never had a better setup. I can't afford anything in the US$100+ range, so, what would you recommend me?

No, its an internal sound card with no shielding at all. So its going to be vulnerable to EMI interference.

If you want the best audio quality, look for an external DAC (and amp if needed), not an internal sound card.

Around the $100 USD mark, the Schiit Fulla is probably the best choice as it is a decent DAC and Amp in one unit
