Just wait for the "big navi" GPU at some point, or pick up a cheap used 2080 super when the 30 series is announced in a long while.

Just turn down a few graphics settings and your 1070 should be fine.

What is your budget/country for your new PC?

what monitor resolution/refresh rate?

What games or other software do you need to run?

I don't think ray tracing is worth it

You can also just get a $400 RX 5700 XT and be fine at that resolution, I do all my gaming at 4k on an RX 5700.  The nitro+ is a nice card.

The 2070 super is also decently priced right now, it's like 10% faster than the 5700 XT, it's basically a 1080ti.

For 21:9 1440p 144hz you might want the 2080 super, but 16:9 is naturally a bit easier to run on a lower end card.

Yeah that makes sense, I can actually get 1080 it’s for cheaper than 2070 supers here rn

and I will not be going and because shadowplay and other Nvidia features are major to me

well thanks for the help but I think I will se how much I get when my paycheck comes in in half a month and see if there are any deals on any 2080 supers, if not I’ll just get a 1080 ti

sound good?

AMD has more features than nvidia atm actually...

but I'd just wait given your current card, it can run 1440p just fine at like medium settings depending on the game for 100+fps.

Which ones are those? They have ReLive which has all the functionalist of shadowplay with some extra stuff I think.

Eh, in my experience Shadowplay is vastly better than ReLive. Less buggy, higher quality, and you can set actually logical keybinds.

1080 Ti is a stellar card (going used, it's much better bang for the buck than the 2080S as well, unless you need RT/the NVENC encoder), though the 1070 should be able to push 1440p pretty well still. I'd defo wait till you get the monitor and test it out before you decide for sure if you want an upgrade or not.

I recommend seeing how you perform on the monitor before upgrading.

I would also recommend overclocking the 1070 to squeeze out some more performance.

I wouldn't recommend anything less than a 2080S though for what you are targeting, if you do decide to upgrade.

I agree, im not swithing to AMD

What i am looking for is a future proof rig here as well, because i am moving out in half a year and will have no money for new upgrades so i want something that will last for a few years

thats why im thinking of the 2080s because it has that little bit extra to last me a bit longer

but the 1080ti coming in a few hundred dollars cheaper and probably letting me get a new 1TB m.2 ssd and some other stuff for the same price as the 2080s
