Nope. They fixed it ages ago.

hasnt been tested with Ampere. they certainly fixed the Vega issues going from old fx to new fx and then going to gx

edit: to clarify, there arent any reports of it working or having shutdown issues. so its a bit of a unknown.

Not enough people have the cards yet to really get a clear picture on it.

indeed, there are a lot of suspects, but it seems like one of the suspects is the bitfenix whisper M 550w. which should trip due to rail layout, but undervolting seems to have helped.

edit: in other words the 550w whisper M trips on the 3080 unless undervolted

If they have to undervolt the GPU they really need a new freaking PSU... 🙄

Thanks for putting up this glorious well of information!

I'm in the process of building a new rig (first time in like 10 years) and spent hours today looking up comments here on LTT about the "golden" Tier A PSUs and narrowed down my choice to the following models (availability already taken into account). The ION+ is "only" blue but nevertheless recommended quite often?

Enermax Revolution D.F. 750W (99€)

Fractal Design Ion+ 860P 860W (120€)

Super Flower Leadex III Gold 850W (128€)

Corsair RMx White Series RM750x 2018 (130€)

Super Flower Leadex III Gold ARGB Pro 850W (133€)

Thermaltake ToughPower GF1 ARGB 750W (145€)

Is one of them clearly favorable above the others? 750W / 850W choice is mainly based on price-diff (if < 20€ I'd go for 850W) and the system powered will be your vanilla 8C/16T AMD-System (Zen3) with either RTX 3080 or AMD derivate. Oh, and I'm a sucker for quite operation, so esp GPU could end up under water.

A push in the right (or better: final) direction would be great! 😃

How is DQ850-M now? Im looking into DQ850-M-V2L also, but i cant decide what to buy for 10700k overclocked and 3080 that require a three 8 pin connectors -_- it seems that only DQ850-M has three of them? or im wrong?

GOOD high quality 850W PSUs have more than enough connections from the PSU..

They come with 3 separate connections on the PSU end. Usually enough for 3X PCIe and 2X EPS cables.

Interesting, and that's a Tier A unit and 850W .... Hmmm.. Shouldn't be just on that alone... Should be bumped down to Tier A Low Priority.

Weak IMO cable wise, for the wattage......

May want to look at the 850W Corsair HX or HXi or RMX or RMI. They all have 3X PCIE and 2X EPS cables.

Or EVGA T2, P2 or G2 850W.

Or Seasonic 850W Prime Ti, or Platinum or Focus PX or Gold.

There are more....

Get what you pay for here, or so it seems.

The one you are looking at is short on PCIe cables for the wattage.

It's setup like a 750W PSU... Not an 850W. Could be the reason for the lower cost too.

@zeniel You don't really need three separate cables for 400W GPU, two cables split to three connectors is pefectly okay. Also, DQ-M and DQ-M-V2L are completely different, the latter is not in the tier A.

True, but an 850W PSU should have 3 so...

I would use 3 because don't use daisy chain cables unless you have no other choice. ;)

Yeap i see that only DQ850-M is in tier A, but there is no reviews for the 750w or 850w psu's with 3080+overclocked i7 or i9 to see how pple connect them with only two cables 8pin separate to 3 or three cables 8pin, and how well the setup is doing
