PS3 Controller Malfunctions

The Great Kamek

Does anyone else here used to have their controllers randomly input buttons and triggers?? Was this not a big issue back in the day?

maybe you spilled something on it, or maybe you have the oldest one that was the first to get released?

I kid you not I went through about 20 DS3 controllers during the time between 2007 and 2012... And so did many of my friends... Worst built quality ever.

Sometimes even new controllers would break after 2 or 3 days randomly lol.

DS3 are very very fragile... Everyone I know went through multiple of them.

Sixaxis controllers are a lot more sturdy,  I have like 8 of them, none broke so far... Of course they do not have any rumble,  so I don't use them often,  could also be why,  but it does feel much sturdier for sure!

Tldr DS3 controllers are trash

(My white Japanese import DS4 also randomly started to have a stuck L1 trigger btw..  and my black DS4 has started to have a stuck L3 button lol...maybe DS4 aren't any better after all either)

I had that issue like last month. lol

Worst i had a CFW it started launching applications like crazy. Deleting and clearing stuff. I panicked.. What i did was dissambled the controller. Make sure you do it slowly and don't lose any of the screws! You need them to hold down everything in place. So i got a q tip and cotton ball and cleaned all the traces and stuff inside the controller. There was like a bunch of brown sticky stuff. I guess from sweat of my hands going inside. You need to CLEAN that. There is also a contact point that are connected to this ribbon in the board.

Also clean the ribbon pins. Carefully. Once everything is clean it should stop doing that crap.

Do it with Isoprophil Alcohol.

Also you dont need to dissabmle the the board and everything in it. As long as you have a bit of access to the insides just pass a q - tip to clean everything.

Don;t you also have to remove the contact pin and the plastic tab; and insert a tape on both sides to prevent the issue?
