Gaming PC under $400?

5 minutes ago, samcool55 said:

Well second hand is your only somewhat realistic option.

You won't find anything new for 400 dollars that's gaming worthy.

You can get an R3 2200G/2400G system for that price

Would recommend finding an R5 2400G on ebay though

Or cut it down to 8GBs of RAM with a very cheap hard drive, and maybe no case, then you can get an R3 quad core with an RX 470/480/570/580 for ~$80-120

PCPartPicker Part List: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/cgm6Xv

CPU: AMD Ryzen 3 2200G 3.5 GHz Quad-Core Processor  ($78.88 @ OutletPC)

Please Help Me Find A GOOD $400 Gaming PC!!!

Are you in the US? Do you already have a monitor or TV and keyboard/mouse to use?

Either want a used i7 2600K machine + RX 470/480/570/580

Or just an R3 2200G or 2400G system if you want to have new parts and an upgrade path.

Spoiler

What is your budget/country for your new PC?

what monitor resolution/refresh rate?

What games or other software do you need to run?

If you go the 8GB of RAM + cheap hard drive route and maybe no case

you would want a used R5 1600 + RX 470/480/570/580

Your best best is a Ryzen 3 1200 or 2200g (quad core) CPU or even a Ryzen 5 1600 or 2600 (six core) - if you can find it on sale. Pair it with a RX 570/580, HDD and 8 GB of RAM. I built my brother in law a very basic Ryzen 3 2200G system with no dedicated graphics for ~$300 and it ran esports titles quite impressively with a modest overclock.

It shouldn't be hard to find a RX 570 for around $100 and that will allow you to play most 1080 games on med to high detail settings at ~60 fps. Sorry, but unless you buy used you're not going to have a top of the line 'gaming' PC for $400.

Edit: Are you looking for a PC or a laptop?

Also another one for light usage and no GPU is the i3, either 7th, 8th, 9th generation. I've seen people doing emulation with of those, as long as you have your expectations clear, it can help you save some bucks.

I'd try to find a ryzen 5 2600, 6 core however a R3 2200g will work just fine. If you pair it with a rx570 you should be able to play most games with med to high settings. With a b450 pro mb, 8gb ram and a hdd or budget ssd, it should be very close to your $400 budget (usd)

That cpu and gpu also respond well to modest overclocking, I got a 5-10% frame rate increase in certain games by overclocking my rx570.

Ah, well do to people reselling that shit on ebay, you should still be able to work that build for a similar, slightly higher price.  Wouldnt go with anything less tbh, might as well be playing console.
