GPU upgrade?

thegopnik

At the moment i have a gtx 1060 3gb, but i feel like it's not doing me well. I don't have the most gamey of rigs ever but it's ok. I get around 120 fps for csgo on max settings. i would like to play a more demanding game but my budget is very tight, around 200 quid(im british) so should i get a used 980 or maybe splash my entire budget on an rtx 2060. im only 15 and dont have a consistent income so i cant spend tons of money on an rtx 2080ti (most people cant anyway)

some specs if my problem is elsewhere

intel core i3 8100

gigabyte z370p d3

8gb ram

corsair vs350

any other specs you want please ask!!

what about the AMD 5700 series? should beat Nvidia Price/Performance wise all day long... depending on pricing in the glorious UK anyway.

but last time i've been to the kingdom hardware prices were lower than on the mainland after converting to €

those are a pretty solid choice, you should be able to get one around 150 pounds off eBay. On the AMD side there's the R9 fury for under 200 pounds, of course like I mentioned in your other thread, the VS isn't exactly gonna be up to the task with these (especially not that fury)

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

I dont think that RTX 2060 can be used in your built as power supply is only 350 watt and I guess 80%. I think that GTX 1660 Ti would be best for you.

Not just any old power supply, ideally you get something that's of decent quality in order to make sure you get the best lifespan of your components and the best stability. Don't want to put a cheapo PSU on a high end system, have you checked out the PSU tier list yet on the forum?

Ive found a corsair cx650m in my price range and corsair i believe dont make cheapo ones and they have much reputation for making good genuine products

Company reputation means squat. Corsair makes good and bad PSUs. As for wattage and unit, the CX550 would be a better choice than the 650M, because the CXM series is based on an older platform while the CX is newer and better.

Trust me, never buy by brand. That includes being on "green team," the companies you favor do not have your back, don't try to have theirs.

I've seen online and the m literally means semi modular, which i would like a modular cables. 650 also seems overkill for a gtx980

yes, it is... But if your budget is not your primary concern, then you can go with the RTX 2060. Though 1660 Ti is pretty good for min of 60 fps gaming in high to ultra settings at 1080p... in case of 2k it can offer 30 fps I guess.

If your budget is that low, a better power supply and a new RX 570/580 is my recommendation.

you are running an i3-8100, so those cards will max out your CPU.

4C/4T will struggle with more modern AAA titles, so I think that's the highest you should go.
