If you guys can spare me a moment to give me some advice, I would highly appreciate this. I just want to have the same experience as everyone else.

Set your graphic settings to these and watch your fps soar without losing any visual fidelity...

Your hard drive is fine. Don't worry about it one bit. Expect random fps drops while playing GTA Online. Completely common and occurs because of other people in the lobby and everything they are doing in the game.

Just a note, without Vsync, you may get some WICKED TEARING!

I've experienced zero tearing with vsync off since upgrading my monitor. I haven't used vsync since.

yeah, you dont have tearing because of that. OP has 1080p 60hz. Tearing all day long on that.

I don't experience tearing when playing high demanding games at 55-75 fps either.

Yes, I know, neither do I on my 144hz/1440p monitor. However, that is neither here nor there, OP will get all the tearing in the world without Vsync.

So you're telling me, that if I drop my resolution down to 1080p and cap my fps at 60 with vsync off, I'll experience tearing?

Probably.

Why are you getting so stuck on this?

False.

To help. I drop my resolution to 1080p and lock my fps at 60 with vsync off all the time. Zero tearing. We can stop discussion on this if you wish, just trying to inform you that vsync off doesn't introduce tearing to everyone. Hope this helps. It's comments intended to be helpful.

As a question you say you lock you fps at 60? by that phrasing, you imply that your frames are not allowed to go above 60fps, which in turn is a form of Vsync. Or do you mean you set your adapter settings to recognize 60hz as refresh rate, not really a lock.

I cap my frames in game and leave vsync off in game and I leave vsync off in the nvidia control panel. If in game settings don't allow a frame cap, I simply cap my fps using MSI Afterburner. Leaving vsync off.

Yes, if you cap your frames at 60 that is essentially the same as vsync minus the Hardware strain. This may be where we are seeing different results, don't cap frame vsync off = tearing. That was the point I was making.

Vsync is off. By cap, I mean limit.

Even when I uncap(no longer limit) my fps and leave vsync off, and I'm only able to achieve around 60 fps in some particular games, I still have zero tearing. This is the point I am trying to inform you of. Some people experience tearing, some people don't. I don't.

Ok yes, we are in agreement,

I don't know how intensive GTA graphics are, since I dont play it. So I automatically assume that it will tear without a cap.

Glad to hear that.

Insanely intensive. The most intensive is in certain high demanding areas or when playing in GTA Online with multiple people doing multiple things that kill fps. Less intensive is usually when flying or when outside the city or when in the majority of indoor places that don't have intensive assets inside those places. For example, inside the Casino has numerous intensive assets throughout it. So the fps suffers because of it.

If I had to guess, since my monitor is a G-sync monitor, even when I have vsync off both in-game and off in my nvidia control panel, G-sync is still syncing my gpu to my monitor. I'm not sure how or why because I've always thought that in order to activate G-sync, you have to turn vsync ON and set the fps to certain intervals like 60, 75, 85, 105(these intervals show in the in-game settings).

With me being a pretty dumb person, G-sync is probably being used no matter what my fps is at, cap or no cap, even when I have vsync off in both the in-game settings and in the nvidia control panel. Which is probably why I experience zero tearing on this monitor. If I'm right about these last two statements, then all I can say is that G-sync is AWESOME and a must-have for PC gaming in going on 2020.
