rtx 2060 super 1080 or 1440?

PaNdRaGoN

Hello.

So I built myself a new computer with a Ryzen 5 3600, 16GB of RAM @3600Mhz and a RTX 2060 Super. I am also willing to buy a new monitor. Should I go for 24" 1080p 144hz or 27" 1440p 144hz? The difference is about 100€. I don't know if the gpu will be able to push that much frames per second(Benchmarks online have confused me with different results). I mainly play fps titles like CS:GO, R6S, Battlefield 1/V, waiting for the new cod etc. Do the 100€ justify the upgrade? As I have it in my mind, if I get the 27" one I will keep it for a long time for sure, but if I get the 24" one may be enough -let's say push- for my GPU.

Thank you in advance.

You can hit 144fps at 1440p in some games, but Battlefield V for example i doubt you can do it on the higher settings, you'll probably have to turn down some settings in new cod as well. i don't personally mind 1080p, looks good to me and i've tried 1440p as well

Have you considered 240hz 1080p? haven't tried it myself but it should be smoother from what i've heard, and you can get that kind of fps in a lot of games and it doesn't really matter if you go to say 150fps, it'll just feel like 150hz. then you can always upgrade later if you want more

otherwise if you're not bothered by fps under 144hz and you want higher res, 1440p will run fine, might have to turn down graphics in demanding games but you can hit it fine in cs, siege, etc

It will do fine even at 1440p 144Hz if you dont expect to max out settings in every game

I am fine with turning the settings down to even medium for most games out there. I have not tried 1440p for gaming, but in general use the extra "screen space" from the resolution really helped me.
The truth is that I considered 240hz at 1080p(exact same price as 1440p 144hz) but I think that it is harder to run and the difference will not be dramatic. For example in a fight situation with a lot of explosions, or in a server with a lot of people I expect to have lower fps, so I won't make full use of it or if they go up and down all the time and I don't know if that will affect it too. I never tried 240hz though so I can not really judge it properly, these are just my own thoughts from what I have seen around.

Yeah, I expect to play "harder to run" games at around medium for that 100+ fps mark, and AAA titles on high (not necessary very high or ultra) and get above 60fps.

A monitor is purchased for a few years of use, more than 5 usually, so get the best one you can. Even if the PC runs it poorly, the next one won't.

If you're fine with turning down settings in more demanding games, then go 1440p, it'll look sharper and as you said it's nicer to use in windows and programs. 144fps is more than enough for most people, 240hz is just if you're playing super competitive games

Thank you all for helping me. I got the 1440p one, to be exact it is the Dell S2719DGF.
