Rmed 1070 got 2060 or 1080 as an option.

MittWaffen

1st question which brand / model?

2060 is slightly weaker but much less power hungry, & cooler may also be a new card

1080 - may be used refurbished

They seem to trade blows depending on game. I would go with the 1080, unless you want RTX.

Don’t use UBM. It’s rubbish.

but I do agree if OP wants RTX or wants a ‘new’? Card go with the 2060, if it’s raw gaming performance go with the 1080(make sure tho not blower sttyle cooler)

You couldn't really use RTX on the 2060 anyways so, I'd go with the 1080.

1080. Like stated, the performance hit of rtx isn’t worth it on such a low end card.

Everyone's so drawn between the two cards, are there any benchmarks that show the vram of 6gb being a major issue vs 8gb?

He should definitely go with the 1080, but you never should have used Userbenchmark as a source. That's a rookie move. The only reason it's still popular is ignorance.

think more simple, with your current setup, your 1070 was never intended to run rtx and its just some free perf gain from 1070 to 1080

User benchmark is fine; you just ignore overall speed and use it as a rouge litmus test. At least I though everyone did that?

Or you could be productive and provide better sources if you hate it so much. ?

Use actual benchmarks from reliable sources like Gamers Nexus.  Userbenchmark is a steaming pile of donkey excrement.  The very fact that you thought a 2060 and 1080 "trade blows depending on game" is evidence of that.  That's why it was so funny that newbies got mad about UBM changing their ranking system for CPU cores.  It was never reliable.

The 1080 is significantly better, but lacks a few features.  It's better to get the 1080 if you want raw performance.
