GTX 1070

Xirb

I know this is a bit out of topic but I would just like to get an opinion whether a 2nd hand gtx 1070 that is currently being sold in my place at 202 usd. It was purchased 2 years ago, is it still a good buy or not?

Don't do anything without pictures of the card. Generally speaking, I think $200 for the 1070 is a pretty damn solid price, but if it's a filthy, damaged card or a fake and you don't know until you get there to pick it up, that's a massive waste of your time.

Aerocool DS are the best fans you've never tried.

Hypnotoad's RAM is dying, his motherboard is acting like the 6-year-old AsRock it is, a couple of SATA ports have just stopped working, but the RGB remains. The RGB always remains. Hypnotoad lives. All glory to the Hypnotoad.

I completely agree with what you've said.

Ex-mining cards have always been fine in my experience, assuming they were well taken care of. The only ex-mining cards I wouldn't touch are the cards I wouldn't touch anyway. Stuff like the early Polaris PowerColor cards (bad PCB), the MSI Armor or Aero lines (sound like a hairdryer) and any reference RX 470/570/480/580 (loud af). Hell, my own MSI Gaming X GTX 1070 is technically a mining card, as is the GTX 1060 6GB sitting in my closet, after I got into zcash for a few months and let them rip.

If the card is totally caked with dust and is less than a couple years old, it was probably run 24/7 while sitting on the carpet, and should be avoided as it's probably spent most of its life throttled. That goes for mining or otherwise.

$200 usd is fair for a 1070. I wouldn’t get that version myself but should be fine. Mined or not it’s gonna be in the same condition, so go for it.
