Hey! Ive just been offered an RTX 2080 Strix for $140 on ebay. It shows artefacting and the description says its artefacting. Should I buy it?

Don't be stupid, it's not an easy fix so don't buy it.

Sounds like parts are broken or damaged. I wouldn't waste money on a "maybe I can fix it". If you are someone who repairs and solders graphics cards for a living....Maybe you could repair it but most likely chips on the card are burned out or damaged to where they would need replacing. Strong no for that recommendation.

they are trying to get blood out of a rock there, you would be wasting your money, best to save up for a new one imo

Its probably an early 2080 with faulty memory.

 

Is it fixable? Sure, probably. Source some nice hynix chips and replace them. Is this worth while? Depends, but probably not. Do you have the tools for BGA soldering?

Brands I wholeheartedly reccomend (though do have flawed products): Apple, Razer, Corsair, Asus, Gigabyte, bequiet!, Noctua, Fractal, GSkill (RAM only)
