Help!!! I need guidance on overclocking

I currently have a ASUS 1080 Strix OC 8gb and I usually use GPU tweak to do the overclocking and was wondering if anyone can give me some advice or guidance as to how to get the most out of my card as I am new to this. 

 

PC Specs: 

Motherboard: Asus Z370-A 

CPU: Intel Core i7-8700k  

RAM: 16 GB of 3200 DDR4 

GPU: Asus GTX 1080 Strix OC version 

PSU: Corsair 750W

basically slowly increase the power slider and run some sort of benchmark like heaven increase it by like 50mhz each time.  If the benchmark is successful, continue increasing until the benchmark crashes.  Then go to memory and do the same thing.  It is a very tedious and long process tho.

Keep Heaven 4 running, then tab out and increase Core Clock in MSI Afterburner by 10Mhz every 2 minutes. When you see glitches, or you crash, back away by 10Mhz. Then test that for 30 minutes.

 

Same with memory.

 

Nothing will happen, you will not damage your GPU this way, it's not possible so don't be scared.

 

Make sure to crank voltage and power slider to maximum, helps with OCing.

 

Crank fans to 100% while doing all this.
