Youtube is about to ruin my life

Due the new policies I suspect my animations channel which I worked so hard for the past 5 years, is going to get NUKED (comments disabled, NO NOTIFICATIONS (WTF) of any kind os subscribers, ad revenue obliterated). That is what awaits within 4 months due the new retarded policies. Im not targeting it to kids but what can I do if kids love them? Kids love Pewdiepie too and nothing will happen to him.

Why don't you just remove the videos with guns in them? You're stressing over something that hasn't happened yet. Adapt your content from now on and carry forward. You should probably work on a way to take your subscribers with you anyway. Putting all of your eggs into a single basket is never a smart idea.

No, it's fucking bullshit. The FTC's point was that they can't track kids, but now the irony is they will track kids, in order to know if they are kids or not, which is bullshit because many adults watch content which could be considered for kids. The US doesnt care, they just are mad that YT isnt paying huge taxes in US. Nobody will benefit from this, except the IRS. Let's just hope my type of content is saved from this nonsense.

I agree with this. Its like when people jump all over twitter because they feel like they ban/censor people unfairly. Its a platform open to the public but its not a right. Its owned by a company who technically have the right to do whatever they want. If youtube decided tomorrow that the only thing that they will let be published on their platform is cat videos and everything else will be removed than that's their call. It would be dumb, but they would be well within their rights to do it. If they decide to change their algorithms around for any reason what so ever that's their prerogative, it will be on the users and creators to figure out how to navigate that. Does it suck, sure but its still not wrong.

There's dedicated Youtube Kids apps and a whole bunch of restriction stuff. How does television get away with it when they show ads in the middle of cartoons? It just seems like it would be easier for YouTube to just give you a checkbox for "kid-friendly" and then run kid friendly ads on them so you don't get people talking about manscaping, or their shit shower shave bundles.

I had a video of me as a kid pretending to run into another kid dressed like a grandma in a cozy coupe and it got flagged for being violent. Since I don't have 1000 subs I cannot refute the claim so the video eventually was taken down. I used to have all my videos monetized and I was making some money. Now barely any of them are still monetized and I can't fight it because I don't have 1000 subs. Some videos I have too don't show up anymore because it contained the word vomit in the title.

the big irony here is that they are going to be telling all those big gameplay youtubers that they are ok (they already told DanTDM he will be ok, he "called youtube support") meanwhile if you are doing somethnig actually creative, fun, lighthearted (like an animation) but with some action scenes (fighting, guns fired, etc) they will still claim is targeted to children. It's a joke and insulting that my content will be threated as if it belongs in the same section as Cocomelon just because I like to animate Minecraft characters meanwhile DanTDM with the same damn audience is going to keep making 1000's of $ a day when his audience is 99% kids and he is just a dumb ass commenting the same crap over and over again and doing nothing creative that takes actual effort unlike animators. Just imagine putting an animation with fighting, guns, and memes into the same section as ABC nursery rhymes just because it's colourful and it's lighthearted and in in Minecraft and duh kids happen to love Minecraft and will watch this just like they will watch PewDiePie. This is fucking amazing.

 

And guess what, I have younger relatives and NO ONE above the age of 8 goes into YoutubeKids app because they all start playing Fortnite by that age and just want to be like TFue, not watch f*cking Paw Patrol, but this dumb ass law treats anything below 13 as "targeted to children". This is just the US mad at not collecting taxes from Youtube and now they are going to bully creators by suing them. The dumb ass on the FTC literally called Youtube "a barrel" and creators "fish", the psychopath.

 

If they f*ck my content up I hope that Youtube collapses since creators will be too paranoid to either do stuff that's "targeted to kids" or "adult content" and will become insane trying to find a middle ground. Hell not even gay friendly stuff is being able to be monetized. The bots flag stuff and that's it, the people running the bots will not make any comments.

 

 

Trying to make content that's approved on this website is becoming an act of insanity. There's less and less niches which you could make content for and not have a worry about it. This CANT be a coincidence. I think they know this and they just want to push everyone out and only let centralized studios to make approved content and turn it into a TV basically.

 

I only have a SMALL hope that they will be smart enough to realize this content even if aimed for a young audience, it's NOT the same audience as what could be put into YoutubeKids, so they just should let us continue doing what we are doing and not ruin our communities since who wants to make videos if you basically no community since they would disable comments and notifications? I'm thinking about Neebs Gaming and what they do. They just started a Minecraft... playthrough? along with Sea of Thieves, and it's sure as hell not aimed at children.

Again, the problem would (I think, can't see why not) be rectified if Youtube just made a "kid-friendly" button when you upload it and make YouTube kids more accessible. It doesn't really matter if no one uses it, YT at that point will have done what the law has required of them. They shouldn't be forced to make people upload specific things.

 

Disabling comments and notifications seems super weird though.

Yeah, again, it seems like they should just have a tickbox when you upload, if ticked it throws it into YouTube Kids. If not, it doesn't. then there's no bot, and nothing is being accidentally promoted or directed at kids. The fact that they already have YouTube Kids in place makes it seem in the first place like it should only apply to that and have YT just say it's for 13 and under or whatever.

I've also been thinking... if people get demonetized for non advertiser friendly content, and then they have a sponsor in NordVPN or whatever... why not just have the ad companies say what type of content they do or don't want to be associated with. At this point, again I'm really just curious how TV ads are done and why YT can't just do that. Or simply have them stop doing targeted ads.

 

But it's unfortunately kind of pointless to talk about it since YT and Google are a bunch of dipshits and do things in the worst possible way. So, you better find a reliable source of income.

Also, while a lot of it is YouTube using a terrible bot, they seem to have a pure blacklist as well.Count Dankula, the Nazi pug guy, has uploaded 2 or 3 videos of nothing but his dogs playing with nothing offensive in the title. The bot flagged it demonetized, he sent it for manual review, and YouTube maintained that it was somehow against the TOS.

 

But the pug was a Nazi, so it was hate speech.

The fact you can't differentiate a person under the age of majority and over disturbs me. It doesn't matter what an adult does, it's their choice. Children are easily influenced by what they see, whereas an adult can make a more formed decision, largely due to life experience. What are you talking about with relation to the US government and IRS? No one's brought them into it. It's about YouTube, and how they make money. You're using their system, you have to play by their rules.

 

Adapt your business model, or go elsewhere. It's no different than if you had a retail business, and the building operator decided to change what they wanted in their building.

No, you don't seem to get it. Nowhere I said I can't differentiate, I said that there is an huge grey area. It's not clear if kid targeted means obviously kid targeted like "Cocomelon, learn ABC, nursery rhymes..." or a content that is family friendly like this is also included?

 

 

Are you aware that if they ban this type of content too from making any money (because those rules will kill any motivation to keep going, specially with no community since they will nuke coments and notifications) Youtube is basically going to collapse? That type of audience is easily more than 50% of the watchtime on Youtube. And it's not about moving into another building, there is no other building to go, they want to push this on every website out there, so basically they want nobody be creating content that could appeal to kids? I really wonder what's their end game. It seems clear to me that they only want a very select group of creators on their rooster and nuke everyone else. You just have to watch the FTC workshop with the archetypical histerical mom proposing overprotective laughable measures like "blocking access to Youtube as a whole unless you are logged in" and so on. They are going to keep raising the bar with COPPA until they hit the first amendtment, ruining services for everyone else because of trying to replace bad parenting with ridiculous measures.

 

I also point at the hypocrisy of how DanTDM was told that he will be ok while it's basically the same audience that watches those animations. Also how Shawn Mcknight which knows the CEO of Youtube, was told he would be ok. This comment said it best:
