Well the reality is that computers need fans. Without them, a PC cannot exhaust heat efficently. Yeah sure you can get fanless designs for most componets that need cooling but you still need to exhaust the heat generated in the case effectivley somehow.

As a person who owns a PC with 6 120mm fans - that includes the cooler's fans - I don't really have a choice.

 

If I keep the PC quiet it means the fans aren't doing their job and my stuff gets hot; If I keep it loud it means the PC is keeping itself nice and cool.

 

I would very much like a quieter PC as I tend to use speakers rather than headphones so as you can imagine, the fan noise can be quite an annoyance.

I have always run my pc fans on max and i have never regretted it

CPU: Amd Ryzen 3400g 

COOLER: Be Quite Dark Rock Pro 4

MOBO: Aorus x570 elite

I'd rather have a completely silent computer. Hence why I got Noctua fans in my PC and no hard drives... Now if the GPU fans weren't so damn noisy, that'd be great.

 

Edit : They were so noisy they killed themselves. Strapped two noctua fans onto the GPU instead, everything is quiet now lol

I only run server fans at 100% because why not

"Unpopular Tech Opinion" The silent PC craze is retarded. You breath louder than most normal PC's. You need air movement for better cooling, performance, and longevity of your components. People that obsess over making their computer silent need a hobby. There is only one application in which a silent PC makes sense, and that is recording things. Even then, our recording PC's aren't silent, just placed strategically and we have zero issues.

Most definitely silent, thats why I will probably get that passively cooled tower that I saw on LTT a while back as my next rig. I just cannot stand hearing fans ramp up and down and that PWM sound.

I actually like a bit of PC ambience. I don't want my pc to be dead silent, just a very subtle humming or fan noise, so I actually know my computer is working properly. If I don't hear that sound of fans moving air, I know something ain't right. I wear headphones most of the time on the PC, so loud fans don't really matter much anyway.

 

Also, my optiplex 790 family computer is in the same room, and it sounds like a coffee grinder because the hdd vibrates against the case all the time.

People love to make mountains out of molehills and act irrationally most of the time. The majority of modern electronics are pretty good with regard to operating volume. There are, obviously, fringe cases like the blower GPUs or the sleeve bearing fans but even stock coolers like the Prism aren't loud unless you stick your head in the fan blades

I vaguely regret getting the GPU I did because it's pretty loud. The less fan noise the better, as far as I'm concerned.
