what the title says. I vote yes because the fan noise makes it sound more like a computer and it gives me the peace of mind that the cpu is staying cool

not true. actually its only true if you have a 300mm fan then yeah it wiil be relatively silent. by silent do you mean the sound of the air or the possible sound of the bearings?

both. noise is generated by friction between moving parts, fins & air

if you cant hear the air blowing then that means theres less air going through the heatsync meaning less heat dissipated

I can't stand silence, i much prefer ambient noise. When i'm doing something where i need to listen to sound on my computer, i use a noise cancelling headset, so fan noise becomes moot

Naw, machines can run silent.

I prefer no noise but I do have some.  AIO + 4 fans, even in the R6 I can hear them when they spin up high.  Not a lot, and headphones or speakers usually are louder.

You're 100% right then.  A loud machine sounds more like a loud machine than a device. :)

I like a computer with a bit of ambient noise, like just above the sound of the fans moving air, but a loud PC can get annoying. If you've ever used a computer with quiet fans you wouldn't want to go back to something with noisy fans.
