iPhone 7 Plus screen repair, glitchy home button

I just did a screen repair on an iPhone 7 plus and swapped over the original home button. Everything works on it and it boots up at normal speed, but for some reason touch ID doesn't work. The home button clicks and functions as expected but it wont scan the fingerprints any more even though it's the original button. Any ideas?

replacing your home button with a aftermarket one will cause issues, might even brick if you update.
