Anyone know where i can start troubleshooting this issue?

Try a different DP cable.  Or try a different video card DP port.

It's possible DP is in deep sleep on your monitor and won't come back on.

 

Unplug your monitor for 10-15 minutes (literally unplug it from the wall, just turning the monitor off won't work).

Plug the monitor back and try again.
