Gaming PC First Build

MrMrEvil

Hey everyone, looking for some advice on my first build ever. I'm in Australia and this PC will only really be used for Gaming.

This is my current build

The $0.00 items are from my 7yr old PC that this will replacing.

I'm planning to try and overclock this build.

Questions

Q1. Australia is 2 days off getting a shipment of PowerColor Radeon RX 5700 XT Red Devil 8GB for $749 so only $12 more than the Gigabyte I currently have, is the Red Devil $12 better?

Q2. Read a bit about the G.Skill Trident Z ram being better quality, the G.Skill Trident Z 32GB (2x16GB) DDR4-3200 with same latency (16) is $50 more than the Ripjaws I have currently, worth the little extra? particularly when im going to OC and have a amd CPU which like good RAM?

Q3. So I have Windows 7 currently installed on the 120GB SSD, when im building my new PC do I just leave it where it is and use it for my new PC, or should I try and transfer it to my new M.2? Should I even bother keeping the ssd since its fairly small and currently only has windows 7 + whatever settings are stored there.

Q4. I'm a little unsure on the samsung 970 evo plus in that it might be a lot higher quality than i need and i could instead throw an extra ~$200 at upgrading to a 2070 Super.

I'm hoping this build wont be too complicated for my first, any advice or criticism on the build is helpful.

1. the red devil cards are known to be pretty good, go for that.

2. not really sure if these specific ram falls into the skhynix vs samsung B-Die flash, but if the trident z is Samsung B-Die and Ripjaws aren't, go for it.

3. install a brand new copy of windows 10 onto the 970 evo, if im not wrong win7 wont even boot on ryzen.

4. to save some money you may consider something like an intel 660p ssd which is much cheaper. it works good enough for most people including gamers.

System looks great!

Q1: There isn't a whole lot of difference between most coolers if they are decent quality. The PCCG Red Devil cards aren't the special edition, either. I personally got the cheapest 5700 XT (XFX RAW II) and it is almost the exact same in terms of temperature and performance.

Q2: Don't really have enough knowledge in that area to help with that.

Q3: Honestly Windows 10 is stable enough now that I recommend upgrading. A new PC would be a great time to do so.

Q4: I personally find Samsung SSDs to be the most reliable. The data on my PC is more valuable to me than upgrading a GPU, but it's totally up to you -- can't really go wrong!

Side note: I've never used PC Part Picker, but it may be cheaper if you get all the parts from the same site (shipping). I use PCCG and they also offer a building service where they'll build the system for you.

I also personally find the Kingston A400 to be much more reliable than the 970 pro. See what subjectivity does without any facts such as failure rates?

For OP's case I would get a 660p/P1 whichever is cheaper over the more expensive E12/SM2262/EN drives.

You are correct. SSD can be swapped with something like a 660p/p1 or even a QVO.

For PSU, I'll quote @LukeSavenije , @LienusLateTips and @Stefan Payne on that one.

Bet? If you're gonna quote all the members who made the PSU tier list, may as well mention Seon123 while you're at it...

No major mentions of seon123 in the newest PSU tier list.

cx does have some advantages, but like, both are good PSUs that i would put in the same tier

Then why are both of them not in the same tier in the PSU tier list? ?

PP11 is in the high end tier where as CX is in the budget tier in the PSU tier list.

Thanks for all the help everyone! Already saved $400 with this changed build so far.

Is the be quiet! Dark Rock going to be good enough for overclocking (not super exteme, as its a first build)? It saves a decent amount of money over the water cooler because then i dont need to buy a new case, and can just reuse my old one.

A little worried about this MOBO though as I read its one of the worse x570 boards.

There is also a compatibility note on this motherboard:

"Note:The MSI X570-A PRO ATX AM4 Motherboard has an additional 4-pin ATX power connector but the Corsair TXM Gold 750 W 80+ Gold Certified Semi-modular ATX Power Supply does not. This connector is used to supply additional 12V current to the motherboard. While the system will likely still run without it, higher current demands such as extreme overclocking or large video card current draws may require it."

Is this anything to worry about?

My last decision is a new 1080p or 1440p 144hz monitor, if I want a 1440p it seems i have to wait a month for this

https://www.pccasegear.com/products/41706/acer-kg271ua-qhd-144hz-freesync-27in-monitor/

to be in stock.

Thank you for all the help.
