Hard Drive disconnection problems

I have a problem with my pc, everytime I open my computer, in about 20-30 seconds, the hard drive disconnects. This has been happening for about an hour now. 

 

I have used avast and it has been ineffective, so I am not sure if the problem is the software or hardware.

 

I use windows 7 and if any other specs or info is needed, just comment it and ill reply to it.

When you say open your PC, do you mean turn it on and work on the desktop or do you mean open the case and look inside? 

Photographer, future counselor, computer teacher.

3600X and RTX 2070 with too many storage drives to count.

Quick question: have you checked the usb wire? have you tried to use it on another computer?
