RAIDing NVME. Good idea?

I want to buy a 2nd NVME and RAID 0 them.

 

Is it worth it? 

 

Is the failure rate a big enough issue with NVME drives to warrant being safe and not doing it? I've owned many SSDs and not one has failed, so I'm confident I won't have that problem

 

Will I get noticeably better speeds?

 

Do I need extra hardware?

 

What would you do?

It depends on whether or not I have problems. I plan on buying an x470 board with 3 m.2 slots and I might use the bottom one for my mSATA SSD and run Windows 10 off that if I have problems with booting on the RAID.

 

I'd prefer to put Windows on the RAID drives though

I don't know about AMD< but Intel charges for a bootable RAID "upgrade key".

For typical home use the answer is usually no :P

Do you have a workload that can take advantage of (simply said) 2x <write speed of SSD in question>, probably a few GB/s? If not, then no, you won't really see an improvement, or at least you won't take advantage of the fact that you have it.

I think @Den-Fi runs some RAID-ed NVMe drives, but he's dumping stuff onto them as a cache on his NAS over a 10GbE connection IIRC. I doubt you're gonna reach nirvana by slapping Windows 10 on a set of them.
