Curved monitor and G-sync worth it

Recommended Posts

Looking to get a 1440p monitor for a new PC build and was wandering about a couple of things:

01) Is G-Sync worth it (I'm getting a nvidia graphics card). It adds quite the price hike to monitors it seems

02) Does a curve screen make for a better viewing experience (I'm looking for between 27" - 32")

1. no

why? well freesync now works with nvidia cards so g-sync is almost not worth it at all.

2. not really

curved screens are only useful for ultra-wides

curved panels suffer from poor uniformity, color space and accuracy.

Yes, GSync is worth it. It's more stable than monitors that use Freesync that have been adapted to accept GSync. Well, it's worth it to me.

Is it worth it to you? Only you can answer that. No one can answer that for you. Worth is relative.

Eh, it's decent on bigger monitors, but it wouldn't be a deal breaker for me if it wasn't curved.

Where did you hear about the curved panel issues? I haven't heard any of those complaints before.

Also, you can't use GSync on all FreeSync monitors, and it doesn't always work the way it should. If I'm spending large sums on a monitor, I wouldn't be getting something that "might work, might not, might work but not 100%, YMMV." I'd get something that is guaranteed to work 100%, as it should.

select g-sync compatible in this list. these are all the freesync monitors that have been verified to work with g-sync directly from nvidia.

this list will grow over time.

its not an issue. its just a spec that is worse than flat panels.

so like its not a deal breaker, its just that uniformity and accuracy and stuff like that is not as good as flat panels

Yeah, but look at the ranges of the compatible monitors. That alone would make me get a proper GSync monitor.
