M.2 Memory Controller contact worry

jwhr

I may be dumb. Please bear with me.

Currently building a new rig, and I've come across a concerning issue.

My Intel 660p m.2 module has been installed on the back of my motherboard. The motherboard is installed in my case. When I look at the cutout on the back of the mb tray, the small, silver memory controller heatsink on the SSD is worryingly close to touching the mb tray. Less than a mm away. All the chips are fine, and not in danger, it is really just the memory controller. Should I be concerned, or should it be a non-issue?

Just looking for advice, nothing legally binding.

Should I stop worrying?

Should I let a glob of thermal paste dry between the two surfaces, or sneak something in between?

Should I pull everything apart and dremel more breathing room out of the motherboard tray?

Thank you in advance for advice or insight.

Thank you for the confirmation. Sadly I don't have one, and none are available locally. I just very, very carefully insinuated a line of arctic silver ceramique 2 in between the worry edges for the moment, making sure not to overflow or touch anything else.
