Goldenfir SSD

CringeFire

This is an update following up to linus's video. (https://youtu.be/v7YBCynA-b0)

I've found out that, if you buy the goldenfir ssd (https://m.aliexpress.com/item/32624083880.html?spm=a2g0n.orderlist-amp.item.32624083880&aff_trace_key=&aff_platform=msite&m_page_id=4361amp-QPidCr8KmwJLWze6RCaPew1567430486619) above 240gb onwards, you are getting Samsung 960 m.2 Dram cache and storage microchip. For the ssd controller, you are getting a SM chip. Here are the pictures to prove my claims. IMG_20190725_222748.thumb.jpg.3d8f3cec7631c4c0507cbab66a11fc69.jpgIMG_20190725_222814.thumb.jpg.d42bd4a31c36b9bb7f2aa885c0dde87f.jpgIMG_20190725_222814.thumb.jpg.d42bd4a31c36b9bb7f2aa885c0dde87f.jpgIMG_20190725_222748.thumb.jpg.3d8f3cec7631c4c0507cbab66a11fc69.jpg

Well, dram chip does not really play any mayor role in ssds performance, SM2258 is pretty standard nowadays with sata ssds.

One thing to note with these cheap chinese ssds (or hardware in general). Dont trust, what says on the chip. Those could just as easily be relabeled c grade micron dies posing as samsung. Unless you can read chip id, you cant trust it.

I'm only getting 0.1ms for 50MB so you consider the chip a grade C? I've been using one of their 240gb ssd for more than a year and it still sustained the same result with no sign of chip degradation.

Fire up siliconmotion mass production tool

https://www.usbdev.ru/files/smi/sm2258xtmptool/

And it will tell you the exact type of dram and nand flash.
