Site slow, missing CSS when changing pages and random cloudflare down messages

Did you guys change hosts or make any changes to anything DNS related?

Over this past week I've noticed the site seems slower than normal, when I change pages occasionally I'll get the site but without CSS for a split second before it loads in, images take a long time to load and about 3 or 4 times this week I've had a "the site it down" cloudflare message that's gone away as soon as I click retry for live version.

Any ideas?

I should add, this is from my computer, tablet and phone from both my home broadband and mobile network.

Nope, home is Sky Fibre (60Mbps) and mobile is Vodafone 4G.

I've noticed the FOUC issue (CSS missing briefly), and am planning to look into that.

I haven't noticed the site being slower. Could that be related to the FOUC making it look slower?

Next time you get a Cloudflare error, can you take note of the exact error that it is giving and the Cloudflare ray ID. That will allow me to look into it further.

Sure, it's pretty random so it might take a few days.

Regarding the FOUC, are you using Firefox?

I've been getting issues with CSS not loading instantly on Firefox 68 (windows) since the forum update.

I've deployed a fix which should fix the flash of unstyled content, although it will only work with content that is submitted going forwards (it might still occur when viewing posts created before now).

Have you had any more Cloudflare errors recently?

Nope but I realised the error was after I tried to upload an image which I believe is actually a separate issue entirely?

Yes - the image issue should be mostly resolved for non-pathological images now.

Just to update on this, I've still been getting this bug a lot, even when viewing new topics posted only hours ago. Also happens when viewing other pages like Status Updates.

Yes, I had to roll the fix back because it was breaking other things. I plan to enable it again, but probably won't be able to for at least a few weeks.

It happens anywhere with embeds.

Any way we can make it come up with a black page by default before content is loaded rather than white?  I don't mind the short-lived formatting corruption but the blinding light is less fun.  Wouldn't really affect day users either since seeing black for a moment is not really jarring at all.

Solve your own audio issues  |  First Steps with RPi 3  |  Humidity & Condensation  |  Sleep & Hibernation  |  Overclocking RAM  |  Making Backups  |  Displays  |  4K / 8K / 16K / etc.  |  Do I need 80+ Platinum?

If you can read this you're using the wrong theme.  You can change it at the bottom.

I can't eliminate all of the white flash, although in theory I could make it shorter. I'm just not sure how much of a benefit that would be.

Ah alright, well I guess don't worry about it then
