Windows Search works very slowly

Recommended Posts

Windows has this wonderful feature called search indexing. What it does* is it keeps a database of your file names so when you search for a specific item, it can search this database (essentially a text file) instead of the whole file system.

The problem with it is, when you have a quick SSD, checking the file system is actually faster than checking the index database. Try this: disable search indexing (https://winaero.com/blog/disable-search-indexing-windows-10/) then let us know if that helped.

If it didn't, try turning it back on and that will force the US to index all files again, which will result in poor search performance for the first hour or so as the index is being filled, but will revert you back to the original state once it's done indexing.
