Cant decide on oculus rift quest or 144hz 1440p monitor or gtx 1080ti

I have a 1070ti, and planning to change. Just for you to know, im rockin amd 2600 non x version, 16 gb ram, real monster pc. Playing rainbow 6, bf V subnautica and cool games like that. I wanted vr glasses since it first came out. I have a 1050x1680 60hz monitor ( piece of nightmare) and i definitely want to change it. Also i want to replace my 1070ti with sg beefier, rather rtx 2070 super or gtx 1080ti. Now im asking u that what would you do in my case. I would love to play games at 1440p 144hz (gsync maybe), but also love to play vr games. What is your opinion?

I'd get a 1080p 75 or 144Hz monitor since those are cheap but much better than 1680x1050 (you can go up to 24" on 1080p and it still looks fine, 27" is fine for games but too stretched for crispy text or anything, I don't like going that big), then the VR headset. Then you can play normal games just fine and still enjoy VR. The 1070 Ti will easily push a 1080p screen (I ran games fine on my 1080p144hz monitor with a 1660 Ti, 1070 Ti is faster than that), should push VR fine as well. 

If you got a 2070 or 1080 Ti I'm assuming you wouldn't be able to afford the better monitor or VR headset so it wouldn't really be much use, would it? But then I do have a Radeon VII and had a 1080 Ti before while still being on 1080p, perhaps I'm not one to talk.

To me it sounds like the biggest thing in need of an upgrade is your monitor.

Thank you. This would be a perfect solution, im just really keen on 1440p and i know the 1070ti will handle it. Just a funny note for you, my monitor is so sh*t its bottlenecking the whole rig so you have got a strong point at the monitor thing. I really appreciate the idea
