Do you limit wifi access by MAC address?

I've always used MAC address filtering/access control on my router to prevent "unauthorized" access.

I'm wondering though if this is worthwhile, or if people do it anymore, it being rather old school thinking.

My understanding is MAC spoofing is pretty easy for someone who really wants to connect to your access point.  It makes you feel more secure than it actually is.

 

Solid WPA2 security and a strong password is plenty for the average home user who just want to keep neighbors off their network.

I never did, particularly it is very annoying to go through peoples phone n shit to get their mac addresses, I just created a good ole WPA2 network for guests and use RADIUS for rest.

I used it about 7 years ago, but it became difficult when living in a house with 4 other people wanting to connect all the time. Now i use a 128bit (or more) randomly generated WPA2 password and hidden SSID instead.

If you don't mind whitelisting every time something new wants to come onto the network, then it could be worthwhile.

 

However I use a router that has two separate networks; the other one is meant for guests. So if anyone wants to hop on the internet, I tell them the information for the guest network.

It's probably one of the easiest forms of security to circumvent (could easily do this in under 30s), but it's fine for preventing the common person from accessing WiFi.
