UK Desk

grangervoldemort

I live in the UK. So please, no Americans telling me to go to an American store or site to get x product.

Is it me or are desks WAY behind how far tech has advanced? Dual displays, PC on desk, keyboard+mouse + need space for documents (actual paper documents). Desks are TINY.

My desk is an Ikea one and was the biggest I could find back in 2011, but it's not big enough.

Anyone know of a desk that is DEEP and long? This desk is neither deep nor long enough.

I have 3 keyboards. On the desk is the smallest keyboard. When I have my G11 keyboard on the desk there is no room for anything else.

Thanks

Most people just buy a countertop from Ikea and throw a few legs on it.

I got this one https://www.ikea.com/gb/en/p/karlby-worktop-walnut-00335201/

With whatever legs you want, like these: https://www.ikea.com/gb/en/p/adils-leg-black-70217973/

But it probably isn't much deeper than what you have. But whatever hardware stores you have in the UK might have something deeper.

I know about that. That is 1.5cm's shorter in depth than what I have but it is longer. MUCH longer. If you look at the link you gave me and click product spec, it says it has a 3mm veneer? I thought that is solid wood?
I need much deeper and longer. But most important is depth. Length isn't as hard to find as is depth.

Get a carpenter to make a custom one itll cost about £200 but bespoke stuff is deffo worth it.

£200? LOL That is how much this Ikea desk cost with a drawer unit. It would cost about £900-£1500 for a carpenter to do it. Don't forget he will have to source a single piece of wood (not chipboard) that is big enough and you are paying him for his time too.

Yea my bad, linked the wrong one. https://www.ikea.com/gb/en/p/hammarp-worktop-oak-solid-wood-90273798/ That's the one I have.

But either way, you should be able to find countertops with a depth of up to 3000-4000 x 700-800mm in whatever hardware stores you have. But they'll also cost quite a lot more for that extra depth.

How did you find this 246cm one? Through Ikeas own browsing only 3 show up: https://www.ikea.com/gb/en/cat/solid-wood-worktops-46456/

None are as long as the one you have linked.

There's more options when you click on a specific countertop on your link.
