R7 1800x will not hit 100% with a overclock

Recommended Posts

So, I have a r7 1800x and I was trying to beat my current cinebench score. I tried running cinebench with my cpu at stock and it used 100% but when i overclock it (4.1ghz @ 1.40000v) and run cinebench, it maxes out at 98%.

Does anybody know how to fix or if there's something wrong with my cpu?

It's not the exact scores I'm concerned about. Rather, I wanted to see if your CPU performance scaled with your overclock. It looks like that's the case, though, so it looks like the overclock works as expected.

My Intel Core i7-6700K running at the stock 4 GHz, despite being a quad core, bounces between 99% and 100% total CPU utilization, with Cinebench, itself, having only around 96% utilization.

Personally, I'd say it's nothing to worry about, but if you want, you could try using other benchmarks and stress tests to make sure your CPU/overclock is fine.

Short answer: Background tasks eating up system resources

Long answer: Windows 10 really sucks and is incredibly inconsistent with its system scheduler.

Brands I wholeheartedly reccomend (though do have flawed products): Apple, Razer, Corsair, Asus, Gigabyte, bequiet!, Noctua, Fractal, GSkill (RAM only)

Wall Of Fame (Informative people/People I like): @Glenwing @DrMacintosh @Schnoz @TempestCatto @LogicalDrm @Dan Castellaneta
