For $114 its worth a risk (for me), wont make or break the bank and if I get some dead pixels, RMA till I get one without or I get a refund - part of playing the low low price game! lol

Hope you don't plan to game on it, as it's not a gaming monitor. Plus it's only 23.8". The speakers on it are also really crappy, not that it matters if you have your own speakers like I do. Could be worth using as a second 1440p monitor for browsing the internet and watching movies though. @m777y does have a point when it comes to its defect rate, this is its most recent review...

 

Sure these things happen with anything you buy offline but imo it is worth noting when considering buying this monitor. I mean, the brand is AXM. Which is Taiwanese. I'm not exactly one to judge but I'm hesitating when buying from a place like this... Axiom.

Yup Ive read the reviews, shipped and managed by Newegg however not Axiom so its not a third party return if needed

 

Gaming?  Hell my 10+ year old Hannspree 60hz 1600x900 monitor would not be considered gaming - but for my needs its functional and I still kill more people than kill me in competitive games usually so Id say hardware may be part of gaming, but the other part is personal skill   I also use a sound system from my PC...and no offense to speaker monitors or TV speakers...but most of them are janky AF anyhow...even my very expensive Acer 1440p 144hz monitor speakers suck. 

 

That's why I said if/when I do it, Im up for the multiple returns until refund if needed.

Bezels, size, and IO button placement look correct - Im not at home to see the part numbers but very likely that's the main monitor!  My secondary is an old Acer lol.  I don't upgrade if it aint broke or WAY outdated lol.

That Hannspree is well capable of gaming. But you see, this AXM has a response time of 14ms. 1ms is ideal and 4-6ms suffices when it comes to gaming but when you're at 14ms it is super noticeable and can be a pretty frustrating gaming experience. Especially when as you mentioned, gaming competitively. To each their own I guess.

Worse case, it replaces the oldest Acer and becomes a nice secondary monitor (at that price its pretty dope as long as it works)

Exactly. Turning movie quality on a second monitor into 1440p instead of 900p. Makes all the sense in the world. When it comes to gaming performance and buying a monitor as your only monitor, my money plus $8.00 would be going towards a 24" 1080p 144 Hz 1ms Dell.

 

The AXM is a great find for a second monitor all day long because 1440p 60 Hz monitors rarely even see $150. So all in all, provided gaming competitively isn't an everyday thing, and name brands are ignored, $114 for a 1440p 60 Hz monitor is tough to pass on when it comes to snagging that second monitor upgrade.

 

In fact, if my second monitor wasn't a 1080p IPS Dell, I might consider buying this AXM. I'd ignore the brand, where it's manufactured and take a chance. I even wouldn't care that it doesn't have FreeSync or GSync because MSI Afterburner provides all the frame capping I need for gaming.
