IMO, it's a kid's birthday party, if you bring alcohol, you're scum. Simple as that. You're not there to have fun, but to watch over them like proper adults with your entire attention, you can't do so under the influence. Birthdays for kids are not a party for adults.

If you want to drink between adults, do so after the party.
