Fast and quiet Build

I initially spec'd this out thinking I wouldn't overclock. However, I think I'd like to have a go at that (I HAVE NEVER DONE THIS, BUT THINK IT WILL BE FUN TO TRY). Won't push too far as I don't think it really benefits the applications that I use which are Lightroom and Photoshop (correct me if I'm wrong). I know in some ways, its overkill - especially on the SSDs, which I intend to use in the following way: 

  • System and Programs: Samsung 970 Evo 500 GB M.2-2280 NVME Solid State Drive
  • LR Catalogue: Samsung 860 Evo 250 GB 2.5" Solid State Drive
  • Images: Crucial MX500 2 TB 2.5" Solid State Drive
  • Other files and data: Samsung 970 Evo 1 TB M.2-2280 NVME

Would appreciate feedback on if that's a decent way to organize the drives.

Also, is the memory I selected OK for overclocking? I think I could get away with a GTX 1660TI, but went with the RTX 2060 since I think this will future proof my system better. I will be using my two existing Dell U2410 monitors.

A couple of other points (and these may be contradictory to overclocking), but I'd like to keep the noise levels down and also minimize the expelled heat into the small office space I'm in (which soon gets pretty warm if I close the door).

Don't aim for the future, aim for the present since you can't see the future.

Primary PC:

I'd suggest a higher capacity psu.

 

I'm not a fan of using multiple smaller storage units. I prefer larger units and if separation is needed partitioned into multiple logical drives. 

 

Consider a gpu with 8GB of video memory.

 

The CAS Latency of the memory modules is far to high for the speed. Corsair Vengeance LPX 32 GB (2 x 16 GB) DDR4-3000 Memory would be much better.

Thanks for the recommendations - particularly the two Intel NVMe drives and creating logical drives. Presumably, there's no speed trade-off, correct?

The Intel 660p is not as fast as the Samsung 970  However, n real world use that difference would not be noticeable.

My question was badly phrased - I meant is there a speed trade-off when using logical drives?

On a Z390 motherboard there is no speed trade-off as the limiting factor is the link between the cpu and chipset (~3.9GB/s). On other platforms the answer might differ.
