why you SHOULDN'T buy a Seasonic Focus (Plus) (Gold/Platinum)

asking Seasonic for the cables with built-in Caps

I'm not sure how much it'll help actually, because pceva had a focus plus in testing, which already has built-in caps

With the OCP being lifted higher, the units would produce absurd amounts of ripple at load. This can lead to instability and long-term component failure. Then, SeaSonic produced ANOTHER "fix", which was just a cable, with a capacitor and extra shielding, that reduced ripple. However, you would have to contact them to get one, and SeaSonic didn't include them in units.

@LukeSavenije  I'm talking about this.

I never said that it actually worked. I didn't know about any testing of the caps at the time of writing that.

Then you phrased it poorly if you're walking that statement back.  To someone reading it verbatim, and I again quote:

"Then, SeaSonic produced ANOTHER "fix", which was just a cable, with a capacitor and extra shielding, that reduced ripple"  You just said the cable-fix reduced ripple, that would imply a "fix".

No where did you put a disclaimer that said "but don't bother to contact them because the fix was junk and I don't think it really reduced ripple enough"

g2, rmx, hx, hxi, rmi, hydro ptm and many others i probably forgot

whisper has 7, and 5 is sufficient, as long as it's a good psu.

i mean... do you still remember pc power and cooling?

that some well known companies can go away in a short time

and that you shouldn't base your choice off warranty, rather of the quality of the unit

looks like its vga problem not psu . reddit.com/r/hardware/comments/9zd09s/seasonic_updated_statement_after_the/

In comments ppl complain about blackscreen and having evga psu .

and only seasonic admit it . other brands are silent.

I find this one i prabably buy Corsair RM650x (2018) . 10 years waranty . 100 euro and its in Tier A+ (Ultra High-end) . Hope its good .

@LukeSavenije I'm surprised to read that my PSU is so bad. I bought mine in May 2018 and it turns 24/7 on my PC data storage without problem. And my PSU is plugged into my UPS (APC Back-UPS Pro 1200).

Before, I bought Corsair VS350 PSU in March 2018 but this PSU got a problem to power my 9 HDDs (Sometimes, one to three hard drives shut down due to lack of power...). My PC never loads more than 130W and 85~100W averge for all days (I checked on my UPS display). When I changed from Corsair VS350 to Seasonic Focus Plus 650 Gold for to have more HDD power cables and it powers perfect my 9 HDDs without problem.

And now, do I have to change my Seasonic Focus Gold for an other PSU even if mine works well ?

Personal experiences don't matter with a PSU since PSUs are so inconsistent. Hell, you could probably find someone who says their EVGA N1 has lasted them 3 years under 24/7 use. Doesn't make that unit a good one. Then again, you can also find another person who says their N1 blew up. It's why these kind of statements are irrelevant.

If you already have the focus, there's little sense of buying a new PSU unless you want peace of mind, I guess.

yes

but there's no third party testing out yet, and seasonic in general is a bit skeptical about overloading PSUs

warranty says nothing, and honestly half of it is made by RSY. never judge per company or oem, judge per model

RSY? Not sure who that is :) Is this problem only for better GPu's?

Shenzhen Ruishengyuan, a chinese psu manufacturer

the problem is when you load up the psu to 120% of it's advertised wattage for the second revision problems
