Cpu downclocking heavily under load (Ryzen 7 1800x Baseclock 3.30 GHz, 2.1 GHZ under load (stress test))

Hello Everyone,

cpu: ryzen 7 1800x
mobo: x370-f
gpu: rx 480
ram: gskill ripjaws 2x8gb @3200mhz
500watt psu
cpu cooler: https://www.amazon.de/gp/product/B00PQ5LV1G/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o05_s02?ie=UTF8&psc=1

No OC

idle runs 55 degrees @ 2.9ghz, under load it maxes out at 75degrees but it downclocks itself badly to 2.1 GHZ

Back in march it was running fine, but now it drastically has gotten a very bad performance

Guys please help me

Have you tried changing thermal paste?

Idle at 55? Never heard of the cooler brand you have.

Maybe grab a new cooler and reapply thermal paste as @PopsicleHustler mentioned

MSI B450 Pro Gaming Pro Carbon AC | AMD Ryzen 2700x  | NZXT  Kraken X52  MSI GeForce RTX2070 Armour | Corsair Vengeance LPX 32GB (4*8) 3200MhZ | Samsung 970 evo M.2nvme 500GB Boot  / Samsung 860 evo 500GB SSD | Corsair RM550X (2018) | Fractal Design Meshify C white | Logitech G pro WirelessGigabyte Aurus AD27QD

I applied thermal paste this year back in march.

Then I would get a better cooler as @Stormseeker9suggested because that cooler looks way underpowered for such CPU.

Check the voltage, it might be too high and it's hitting power limit before it thermal throttles, which would explain why it's hot on Idle but doesn't increase much under load

Check power limits as well, or just reset Ryzen Master and BIOS or something

I tried increasing the voltage with a profile but it doesn't work

Dark Rock 4 will do just fine.

@Slime123 as popsicle said. That cooler will do much much better.

If if you can get one do it and please report back to let us know if that solved the issue

but isn't it strange that I have a high idle temp but only 75 degrees under full load? How would that justify a possible error from the cooler?

Also, a lot of coolers are too big (height) for my case, so I had to go with the Noctua NH-U9S

"Only 75" This is very high for a CPU running at stock settings. Also you haven't specified under what kind of load it reaches 75c. If it reaches that under gaming load (40-60% usage) then it will most certainly overheat under benchmark workload.
