Suggestions for a media consumption tablet?

Assassin

I currently have an iPad (4th Gen, 16GB). The iOS 7 update has made this thing too slow to use for me. Plus I want something that is lighter. What are my options? I am open to any Android Tablets. Kindle HDX looks great to me right now.

I need something bigger. Around the lines of 9 inches.

Budget is around 500$

Considering that no such tablet size exists your probably going to be after a 10 inch device. (By the way, I too have the fourth gen iPad, and it didn't slow up at all for me, unless you have unrealistic expectations of what a tablet can do)

Erm...there's nothing I'd really recommend other than an iPad for content consumption, since I feel it to be the best tablet for that usage scenario. I would recommend the Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 edition, but Touchwiz really is terrible.

Not much for 9 inches. Just the G Pad. The GPE I've heard is really nice.

If you want a 7" the 2013 Nexus 7 and eVGA/Advent/Gigabyte/Whateverthehell Tegra Note 7 are really good choices.

For 10", its really the Nexus 10 vs the world. It's a shame it doesn't get that much street cred. The Xperia Tablet Z might be worth a look. Personally I have a black 16GB. I love it. It's lighter then the iPad Air, and the waterproof novelty doesn't wear off as fast as you think it does. It still amuses me to this day.
