Hmm you’re getting “ERROR:exception: Error initializing context: clGetDeviceInfo (-5)” and its a mobile GPU. Googling that indicates that the drivers may have been installed from the laptop manufacturers website and may not have all the OpenCL components installed required for folding.

 

Try removing the display driver and downloading and installing the latest drivers from the NVidia website

i did a clean install from geforce experience a few weeks back..... i will try again

Many people have found running the geforce experience to cause more problems than it solves and so don’t bother installing anything other than the graphics drivers

 

I run Linux on most of my folding rigs so I have to deal with a different set of problems ?

My laptop’s getting pretty toasty though, hitting 90C on both CPU and GPU even with my repaste and undervolt of -0.162mV. :P

 

Made an LTT forums account just for this!

Not great for the lifespan of your hardware... If you want to keep it safe I would underclock a bit just to keep those temps down.

You could also disable folding on your lower performance component if the thermal solution in your laptop isn't capable of cooling both at full load

 

Folding is great but don't sacrifice your hardware!

How long is normal to wait for a passkey? Filled in my details and it's been about 10 minutes.

From almost 4 hours on my CPU, it changed to 30min when i turned the Folding Power to Full, changed from CPU 6 to 7 . . . but then it went back in percentage and back with 3:50 hours remaining. I'm running an OC'd FX-8300 at 4Ghz and an RX580 that underclocked itself after the AMD drivers crashed, usually doesn't happen when i play games, i only use the boost clock of 1460Mhz. Ah well, at least im not having any other problems.

My GPU folding slot keeps failing. The client tries downloading new WUs but every WU returns with BAD_WORK_UNIT (114 = 0x72)
