It's all in the name of science and betterment of mankind at the end of the day.

This is why I hate it when people hate on folding coins, just let them earn their silly coins and PANDE Group soak up all that juicy folding power.

I agree but some of these coins are massively mis-representing what their product is and in a lot of cases are mitigating the power of folding by having to run the blockchain on top of the same hardware doing the folding. Then leading to people not making money and also not folding as efficiently as they can be. But like we always say every bit helps.

I bet the 2060 super is also much more energy efficient.

I haven't seen any Computational stats for Navi yet but at least in the Gaming Benchmarks I've seen Turing still has the lead in energy efficiency though these measurements are usually done while gaming and Navi might do better not pushed too hard. It seems to me that AMD on their GPUs, like their CPUs, tend to set them to be more aggressive by default.

Though if AMD don't get their OpenCL working in the next few months it will be a moot point. I was sitting on the fence for a couple of months waiting for Navi as I'd like there to be more competition but I eventually gave up.

I have both my home server and the living room htpc both folding at the moment.  Each device will download and work on its own separate projects, but as long as you have them both configured for your username, team, etc., the points will get credited to the same account.

You can also control both computers from each other or a third:

I thought I already did it, but must of slipped my mind or it was a different google doc sign up I saw.

So far it looks like my 1080Ti averages around 1.1-.1.2mil atm at 2000MHz.

The one low one is where I paused a bit so I could play a bit of Elite Dangerous.

work.thumb.JPG.b126fcbde4e9cb7fd1e489c2239863dc.JPG

Now, if I can find where the heck I put the air cooler to my other 1080Ti, I do have a water block, but ugh, not really in the mood to bend acrylic tubing.  :I  I got it somewhere.  Thought in its box, but it not in there.  Probably stashed somewhere else.

Hoping I get these two Titan X Pascals sold off to nab some better cards.  Otherwise, may just smack them in if I get around to putting their air coolers back on (they currently water blocked and chilling around).

Well at least if you get the Titan X’s Aircoolers back on they’ll be ready for sale after the Folding Month is over.

Maybe it has something to do with that whole situation going on with Ryzen having better and worse cores in one cpu.

It's possible that F@H isn't using that core for Folding. It will keep one or more cores free to be used by GPU slots or simply to help with system responsiveness while folding. In the advanced client check your slot configuration settings.

Yes, but I wouldn't recommend buying it just for that purpose.
If you have integrated graphics on the CPU you can also hook the monitor up to that and play some less graphically intense games on it.
You can also just pause folding while gaming, or even just continue folding while gaming and just take the performance hit to both folding and gaming. I've been playing lots of Slay the Spire while folding is running and barely any impact on F@H production. Though, if your overclocks aren't stable you may crash in game or in the folding work unit.

Anyone else encountered these issues last night/now? woke up and my rig wasn't folding, again.

Seems to be connection issues as far as I can tell. High lighted two sentences, especially the first oen, 'target machine refusing'  - what causes this?

EDIT: and as alwways... a reboot fixes it.

Just caught a WU I haven't seen previously, it was reaching 73 degrees on the XOC card and in under 10 minutes it crashed with error faulty.

Also, PPD was low.

Right after this I got 14249 and it's still very hot, although a tiny bit little - even at 1.125 voltage it doesn't go over 72C (it said bad state detected so I upped the voltage). Looks stable now, and 20-25% more points :D

ALSO, project search for 13815 pulls up nothing. Which is weird. 14249/14250 are connected to ebola in some way btw.

Ive been playing games while folding, hasnt affected my PPD as much

mainly playing CS:GO

Been away from the forum for a while, but just jumping back here (before going away for a while again for similar reasons).  I pray it all works out well.

Thanks man, it wasn't as serious as first thought! Just gotta cross our fingers and hope it all turns out fine.

I agree but some of these coins are massively mis-representing what their product is and in a lot of cases are mitigating the power of folding by having to run the blockchain on top of the same hardware doing the folding. Then leading to people not making money and also not folding as efficiently as they can be. But like we always say every bit helps.

I guess it's true, but the thing is these wouldn't have folded anyway without the coin so it's not like folding@home os missing out on something they would have otherwise had

My guess is it has something to do with a fault when one server hands off your client to another. Refreshing the connection with a reboot fixes the problem right?
