5960X. 16gb 4x4 gb ddr4, 980, ROG Rampage V Extreme, (Mobo is slightly dodgy) It keeps setting the system agent voltage to 0.5V which makes it fail to boot, so have to clear CMOS every boot, but it has up-times of 100-200 days so it doesnt bother me much.

Ooooooo noice, shame about the mobo tho. I'm running an X99 Classified, apparently the early ASUS boards had voltage issues on X99. I do have an X99 Micro2 as well, once I get a 5960X for my main rig I'll put my 5820K in that and it supports up to 2 GPUs.

I knew the status of the board before I got it, thats why the trade was so good, the CPU alone was worth as much as everything I traded the guy in return here at the time if it flopped either way.

Yee, 5960Xs still go for $300-320 now. They should still perform damn well, and I know some guys with j-bins have ran them at 5Ghz on water, always wondered how those compare to in a stackup against the 9900K, 2700X (or now the 3700X) and the older 1680v2 (also a solid, about $300-320 OCable 8c/12t CPU on the X79 platform).

This is a J bin, used to run at 4.9 on an AIO, but with very high voltages so its a little worn out. But I just wanted dem fat PCIe lanes tbh.

Have a look at used 5930k, they're going pretty cheap. I got one to replace a 5820k for the extra PCIe lanes for the day I might give 3-way crossfire another attempt.

I would do that, but I'm planning to get a 5960X eventually anyways, and I'm on a custom loop so just adding more GPUs isn't that easy (also my SSDs run off PCIe add-in cards). That's why I run the X58 mobos, that and I have low clock Xeons that don't eat much power, and use cheap DDR3 RAM.

I pay around £0.16/KWh But I pay an extra 10% on that to get 100% green power.

Here the general grid power is around 12-18% renewable power, but my power company offers 33% as standard and 100% with a 10% price hike.

:I  Yeah, if I ever get my own place, I'm going full out on a solar roof setup.  Still saving up for the down payment atm.  Though, I want to have one of those beefed up houses with serious walls and insulation.

I'd really suggest pushing it back to January, as folding 'month' only ends in November, don't want people to get distributed computing fatigue
